Journey In Christ Through Baptism
At RCC, we believe in a Believer’s Baptism - a Christian practice of baptizing people who have consciously chosen to follow Jesus Christ. That salvation is made possible by the grace of God through the blood of Jesus who died on the cross. Salvation occurs when one believes in Jesus, repents of sin, confesses that Jesus is Lord and then is baptized (immersed) into Christ.
Why should you get baptized?
Baptism is a command from Jesus Christ in Matthew 28: 19-20, He instructs his disciples to baptize new believers in the name of the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit. Baptism symbolizes the washing away of sins and new life we have in Christ.
The Bible provides numerous examples that highlight the significance of baptism:
- John 3:5 - "Jesus answered, 'Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.'"
- Colossians 2:12 - "Having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead."
- Titus 3:5-6 - "He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior"
- 1 Peter 3:21 - "And this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also - not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God."
- Acts 2:38 - "Peter replied, 'Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
- Acts 22:16 - "And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name."
We are excited to help you take your next step in baptism!
